Finding Your Business Internet Service Provider is as Easy as 1-2-3

…OK, so maybe there are a couple more steps than that.  But, hey, it's still easy!

That's because the telecommunications world is chock full of competition these days.  A good business internet service provider will fall all over itself to give you the service you need -- at a price you can afford.

So, when it comes time for you to shop around, just do these 5 things:

1.  Look at more than price

Remember, a good business internet service provider wants your business.  So, it may be willing to work with you on price.  Or, even if you can't negotiate a lower price, you might be able to get some extra features in return.  That way, you can get even more bang for your buck.

And, remember, not all providers are good.  Some of them offer dirt-cheap rates and follow up with dirt-cheap service.  So, before you sign on the dotted line, look at more than just the price tag.

2.  Get a provider that's scalable

If you really want to make the most out of your money, look for an internet business service provider that's scalable -- which is really just a fancy way of saying that they'll let you pick exactly how much bandwidth you want to pay for, and change that amount whenever you want.  By getting a scalable provider, you'll be able to make sure that your service fits perfectly into your budget.

Plus, you'll save a ton of time later.  Down the road, when you need to upgrade your bandwidth, all you'll need to do is make one phone call -- instead of starting the process over from scratch.

3.  Plan ahead

If there's one thing you can count on, it's that the telecommunications world is always changing.  That's why it's so important to look for a business internet service provider that keeps up with the times.

Right now, that means finding a provider that's got a ton of fiber options to choose from.  Yes, going with fiber will cost you more than opting for copper.  However, you won't just get better service; you also won't have to worry about replacing it anytime soon.  You can count on fiber for the long haul!

 4.  Ask about equipment

One way that a sneaky business internet service provider can hook you is with promises of great prices -- only to tell you later that you'll have to go out and buy all of your own equipment.

Fear not, though!  The good providers will give you all of the equipment you need and install it all for you.

5.  Read your SLA before you sign on the dotted line

Your SLA is the contract between you and your business internet service provider.  If you don't know what's in it, you don't know what kind of service you're entitled to.  If you don't know that, how do you know if you could be doing any better?!
